About DeleteMe
1. What is a DeleteMe subscription or Paid Service ?
DeleteMe is a subscription and Paid service that removes your personal information from the largest people search databases on the web, such as Tamil websites, Google ets. (Click here to see the full list DeleteMe covers with your subscription.)
You provide us with the information you’d like deleted, and we do all the tough work to get your info removed. We then monitor each site to make sure that your personal information stays gone. We provide you with regular personalized privacy reports showing you what information we found, and what we removed. Not comfortable with anyone with a computer having easy access to intimate details of your private life? Then DeleteMe is for you!
2. Who uses DeleteMe?
Many different kinds of people are DeleteMe customers, such as those who:

4. What happens after I Paid ?
Please note, you can add as many addresses, names, emails and phone numbers relating to you into your account for DeleteMe to search for and remove. You’ll then either upload, email, or fax us a picture of your license or state-issued ID. Our DeleteMe Advisers take it from there, submitting opt-outs to data broker sites on your behalf within 14 days. The day you receive your Privacy Report is the day we’ve sent the opt-outs, so give it some time to see your information removed from all of the sites.
5. Do you constantly monitor my info around the clock?
Each database has its own unique opt out method; some make it easy for us to continually monitor your information, while others make it a lot harder; So the answer is both yes and no. We continually scan about half of the databases we remove from, while the other half we monitor on the same quarterly schedule in which you’ll receive your reports.
6. I don’t live in the Sri Lanka Can you still delete my listings?
Yes. The sites from which we delete our customers are all based in the Sri Lanka, EU and US and they only process removals from people who either currently live in the US or used to live in the US.
7. How does DeleteMe compare to the competition?

We believe everyone has a right to privacy in their life – whether in their home or online. We believe people care deeply about their privacy – even though many top companies and executives do not. We believe many web businesses today do not act appropriately when it comes to their users’ personal information, and even well-intentioned companies are hampered by inherent conflicts of interest. We believe the time is right for a new company to put users back in control of their online privacy.
We collect only as much information from you as is absolutely necessary to provide the DeleteMe service. As our privacy policy states, we won’t track, store, or sell your personal information to anyone, under any circumstance.
What DeleteMe Deletes
1. Which websites does a DeleteMe subscription remove me from?
When you order our DeleteMe subscription service, we send opt-out requests on your behalf to the all websites
2. What sites can’t you remove me from?
Some sites do not offer an opt-out procedure. These sites typically are based outside of the US, and all of them are aggregation sites. They collect their information from social networks, public search results, and the major people search databases listed above.
Although there’s currently many way to remove your information from these sites, deleting it from the others has the practical effect of filtering it out of both.
3. Can you delete Google search results for me?
We’re always working to add to our menu of products, we do have a free online guide for removing and/or pushing down in search results.
4. Does DeleteMe completely remove my name from the Internet?
No. We cannot delete your name by itself, only in connection with your contact information (address, phone number, etc.). The fact that you were born with a certain name is on your birth certificate, your driver’s license, and more. It is part of the public record, and we cannot delete it.
When someone orders a DeleteMe subscription and paid Service, we delete his/her contact information from this list of people search databases, not from the entire Internet at large. Under our current system of law, certain information is public and cannot be made unpublic. We do as much as we can within the bounds of the law.
5. Does DeleteMe remove my info from Google search results?
No, not directly. Here’s the important thing: Google is not the source of the search results it generates; it’s merely letting that post be found more easily. The post is actually hosted on the website that Google links to. Google does not have the file, nor can it delete the file.
To remove something from Google’s search results, you have to remove it from the original source first. Once you take down a piece of content, Google and other search engines will naturally filter it out of search results. If you’d like to try and speed up the process you can try using Google’s URL Removal Tool. Note that you’ll need a Google account. Just hit the “New removal request” button, paste the link to the site that needs updating, and under “Reason,” select “The page has changed and Google’s cached version is out of date” from the drop-down menu. Then follow the directions on the page and “enter a word that has been entirely removed from the live page but is still present in the cached version.”
Finally, submit your request. Google will approve or deny it within about 48 hours.
6. Does DeleteMe remove blog posts/articles/legal records/arrest records, etc.?
Unfortunately, that type of content is not something that the DeleteMe service can remove from the web.  some time yes.
However, we do have a guide for either removing the item or pushing it down in search results. Generally, you cannot remove online content unless it violates a website’s Terms of Use and/or is unlawful in some way: for example, it infringes on your copyright, it exposes your “confidential” information (social security number, credit card number, etc.), or it is spam.
In our legal system, almost all lawsuits and hearings are part of the public record.
Unless you have a unique situation where your record was expunged or the case record was sealed, the fact that you were involved in a lawsuit is public knowledge.
Here’s some additional information on defamation (in other words, someone else writing negative things about you). Generally, you cannot get a defamatory item removed without legal documentation supporting your claims. Under the current state of Internet law, hosting companies and websites are under no legal obligation to remove allegedly defamatory content without a court’s determination that the content is actually untrue and harmful to you. It’s a frustrating and unfair restriction, but without it, it’d be impossible for websites and hosting companies to handle thousands of defamation claims.
If the claims (1) are presented as facts and not opinions, (2) are actually false (and you can prove it), and (3) have caused actual, provable damage to your reputation, you may want to speak with a First Amendment attorney.
7. Will the DeleteMe service also remove my name from the cross-reference of my relatives?
Unfortunately, in order for your information to be removed from family members’ listings, the family members themselves would have to opt out. If the family member listed is interested in helping you remove your info from the web, we offer a free online DIY guide.
8. Does DeleteMe remove my info from Blockshopper and MyLife?
Unfortunately we do not remove content listed on Blockshopper and Mylife. sometime yes under EU law.
9. How do I opt-out of Blockshopper?
What you’re seeing on BlockShopper are so-called “public record” listings: they’re derived from real estate purchases or sales, and there’s no legal basis for blocking them. They fall into the same legal category as birth certificates, marriage licenses, lawsuits, business filings, and other records that the law deems “public.” There’s been a lot of controversy with people wanting their information removed and BlockShopper refusing. It frustrates people and it seems like a major invasion of privacy. You can read more about this sort of thing here: Blockshopper FAQ
They note on their website that “We do make exceptions to this rule, for certain government officials, law enforcement and public safety workers( see more here ), individuals under court protection orders, or individuals with officially documented stalkers or other threats, for instance. If you do fall into one of these categories, you can contact us in the following ways:

If you’re an employee or in law enforcement, some proof of employment is required (emailing from your work email will suffice). If you are under an order of protection or consider yourself under some other threat, please include some documentation (like a police report) in your email. If this isn’t possible, please explain why. We’re good listeners.”
10. How do I opt out of MyLife?
Although we do not remove from MyLife we do have instructions for you to remove your information yourself. MyLife recently closed their search results so that only members can view them, which means that we’re no longer able to 1), see public results for who’s listed on MyLife, and thus 2), remove our customers from the site. To remove your listing yourself, call MyLife at (888) 704-1900 and press 2 to speak to an adviser. Have the following information on hand: name, age, date of birth, email, current address, and one previous address. Tell them that you want your listing removed and provide the information that they ask for. Once they confirm removal, the listing will be off the site in 7-10 days.
About people search Sites
1. What are people search sites? How do they get my information in the first place?
People search websites, also called “data brokers,” collect, publicly list, and sell, your personal data. These websites scrape public records from a huge variety of sources and generally aren’t very transparent about where the information specifically came from. Data brokers compile all kinds of personal details about you and neatly package it up to sell. These sites can have everything from your name and address, to shopping habits and religious views. Here’s a list of some of their biggest sources for data:

Real estate transactions
Marriage licenses and divorce decrees
Unsealed lawsuits or legal actions
Criminal records
Marketing database
Birth certificates
Death certificates

As you can imagine, gathering information from so many different sources often leads to these websites sharing and selling inaccurate information.
2. Is it legal for a company to take my information and put it online for anyone to see or buy?
Unfortunately, yes. Certain types of information are considered “public records” under the law, which means that anyone has the right to access them. Public record sources include legal documents, voter registrations, and mortgages. Public records laws were created before the Internet, when documents were physical copies. Now these records are far more accessible and visible than they’ve ever been, and our outdated laws do not treat them differently than if they were physical copies.
Subscribing
1. What information do I provide when I sign up with DeleteMe?
Once you’ve purchased your DeleteMe subscription, you’ll be directed to your DeleteMe personal profile page via Email. Your first report will be run within 7 days of your date of sign up. Please note that if you don’t provide us with an address, we won’t know to delete it. you can add as many addresses, names, emails and phone numbers relating to you into your account for DeleteMe to search for and remove.
2. Why do I need to provide my ID?
Some databases that we remove from require we submit a state-issued ID with the removal request. The people search sites ask for it to verify your identity, which is really just part of their game to make it more difficult to remove your information from their database. For example, check out Intelius.com’s Privacy Policy on that point. It’s unfortunate, but unless we send an ID along with the request, your info will stay on their site.
You may be hesitant to send your ID along to us, but here’s why it’s a low-risk scenario:
your information, including the copy of your driver’s license, is used solely for the purpose of removing your info from the web, and is stored in our secure database. Before you send it to us, cross out the photo and driver’s license number. The only information that needs to be visible is your name, address, and date of birth; which is information you’ll be providing us anyways, and information that the people search sites already have. Upload your ID directly to your data sheet when you purchase your DeleteMe subscription, email it to admin@deleteme.lk, or fax it to us at 00 47 47 944 944. We can proceed without the ID if you’d like, but it will limit the number of personal information sites we can remove you from as part of the DeleteMe service. Specifically, the following 8 major websites will not accept removal requests without a drivers license:
We can proceed without a copy of your drivers license and remove you from the remaining sites that are included in the DeleteMe service that do not require it. You may submit your license at a later time, but removal from the sites requiring the license will not be processed until your next report is due.
3. Can I send my ID via smartphone?
Yes! Simply snap a photo of your ID with your smartphone and email the photo to admin@deleteme.lk.
4. Where can I view the Terms of Service?

5. How long will it take for my listings to disappear from people search databases you remove me from?
data broker sites respond to opt-out requests at different speeds. Some take your information down immediately, and some (especially those that require hard copy mailings) can take up to 6 weeks. New information is always being generated about you online and in public records, which can ultimately regenerate your profile in people search databases even after we’ve sent them your opt-outs. As a rule: be careful who you supply your contact information to — you’d be surprised how often your information is collected. When you order something online, send in a warranty card, sign up for a social networking site, or enter a sweepstakes, you’re submitting your information to potentially public sites. We recommend using DeleteMe software to protect your information when you’re browsing the web, which you can download for free here.
6. Will my info come back once you’ve removed it?
Yes, your personal information will sometimes repopulate after we’ve removed it. Because new information is constantly being generated about you in public records and as you continue to use the web, this can ultimately regenerate your profile in people search databases. By offering DeleteMe as a subscription, we are able to make sure your information is gone and stays gone. We also offer a free DIY guide on opting out of these sites yourself.
The FTC has said they’re cracking down on people search companies to stop this practice.
We reported one company, BeenVerified, to the FTC for claiming that it had removed customer listings, but we found them to be continually re-posting them.
7. I found myself on a people search site that’s not on your list. Can you remove me from it?
If it’s not on our list, we don’t delete you from it. Sorry! We’re always looking for new databases to add to our service, but they have to fulfill two requirements: It has to be a “people search” website, and has to have an opt-out procedure. If you’ve found a site that’s not on our list and fulfills these requirements- send us an email at admin@deleteme.lk and we’ll check it out!

Although all of your listings will disappear within about six weeks from when we send opt-out requests on your behalf, some will be gone quicker than others. In addition, this process will take longer if you haven’t provided us with essential information that we need to start your order, such as filling out your data sheet and providing us with your ID.
2. Do you constantly monitor my info around the clock?
Each database has its own unique opt out method. Some make it easy for us to continually monitor your information, while others make it a lot harder, so the answer is both yes and no. 4. How can I suggest a people search site for you to add to DeleteMe?
Please email admin@deleteme.lk with the subject heading “Suggest An Opt-out” and the name of the data broker site or feature you’d like us to add to our menu of services, and we’ll add it to our queue for our engineers to check it out. Bonus points if you can include a link directly to the site’s opt-out procedure.

You can cancel at any time, for any reason, and we’ll refund the remaining reports on your subscription.
2. I don’t want to pay but I want to delete my info. Can you tell me how to do it for free?
Yes! We are happy to help users remove information on their own, and think it’s important to give everyone the tools to protect their privacy, so we’ve posted free DIY instructions for removing yourself from the largest people search sites on the Internet. However, we want to give you fair warning- it’s no easy task, and requires a lot of patience. It’ll likely take you 6-7 hours to complete all the removal requests on your own, and then you’ll have to repeat the process every few months to make sure your information stays off the web. DeleteMe does all the work for you!
3. Do you do group/bulk sales? Can I buy subscriptions for everyone in my company?
